Morgen Michel is a London based french countertenor who loves conducting. He has been doing choral singing for 10 years and has been studying conducting for the past 4 years. Some choirs that Morgen has been part of include: Taplow Youth Choir with Gillian Dibden CBE, Rodolfus Choir and the Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) Chapel Choir, both with Dr. Ralph Allwood MBE, and Genesis 16 with Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan. At Trinity Laban he was in both Rubythroat with Linda Hurst and the Chamber Choir with Stephen Jackson, Sarah Latto, Dominic Ellis-Peckham and other directors.
Morgen Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance having done his bachelors and now doing his masters there. He studies singing under Lynton Atkinson and Alistair Young. He did his conducting electives under Jonathan Tilbrook and Alexander Walker with mentoring from Ralph Allwood with the (ORNC) Chapel Choir having opportunities to conduct the great choir there. He has also had the opportunity to shadow Vicente ChavarrĂa the Trinity Conducting Fellow for some Opera Scenes.
During Morgen’s time at Trinity he has been awarded the following scholarships: the Morag Noble Scholarship and the Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholarship. He is also the head scholar (Morden Scholar) of the ORNC Chapel. Morgen is very excited to be the Music Director of the new Beati Consort, a group for early professionals to have a regular professional group to be part of. Morgen strongly believes in the community of musicians to support each other as best they can and wants to give as many of his colleagues and friends the best chance to try and make a living out of this amazing career we all want to pursue.
